'Cubixx HD' Episode 2 - Enemies: Part 1

Hi guys,

I’m back again, with more details on your favourite upcoming game, Cubixx HD and today I’m going to run through a few of the enemies to whet your appetite…

Our first enemy is the Cubixx from the first game, along with the all-new Mini Cubixx (this is the best name we have at the moment.) The standard Cubixx acts like it did in the original game, hunting you down and generally causing a nuisance; remember, a Cubixx cannot be killed, so you’ll have watch your step!

The Mini Cubixx, on the other hand, can be killed if you cut it off from its bigger brother. There can be up to 36 Cubixx and Mini Cubixx covering the cube, so make sure you concentrate! The screenshot above shows the standard Cubixx in orange and its new little brother in purple.

Next we have a new enemy, the Homer! This little bandit will cling to you and slow you down. Although the Homer cannot kill you directly it will make other enemies more dangerous. Homers will display an exclamation mark when they’re attached to you and a question mark when they’ve spotted you. The screenshot below gives an early indication of what the Homers will look like come release, but we’re still working on them.

Last up in this episode of the blog, is the good old Line Chaser enemy. Line Chasers relentlessly patrol the edges of the cube’s faces, preventing the player from camping on any solid lines for too long.  These enemies - which are usually blue - will turn red when they’re able to kill the player, which makes tracking down and killing Line Chasers a lot of fun; something we’ve actively built into the gameplay, but more on that in the future.

There’re plenty more details to come in the following weeks, so stay tuned. :)

To finish off for this week, our reveal last Friday got us some nice feedback from a few PSN-friendly sites out there. Check them out:

Cubixx HD on PSNStores.com - “...the game looks very promising indeed.”

Cubixx HD on PushSquare.com - “We really can’t wait to see how the pulsating style of the Mini presents itself on an HD television.”

Cubixx HD on TheSixthAxis.com - “This new, updated, hi resolution version looks gorgeous.”

It's always nice to get good comments from the critics, especially before the game's even finished! :)

See you next week,

Steven
