Ace Armstrong vs. the Alien Scumbags!

Following the recent success of our Minis titles, Cubixx, Stellar Attack and Vibes, we’re happy to announce that we’re preparing yet another attack on PSN this summer.

Ace Armstrong vs. the Alien Scumbags! is a fast-paced horizontally scrolling shooter with a unique, slapstick take on the best of 50s and 60s sci-fi movies and cartoons. The game features a unique weapons system: instead of collecting power-ups, Ace must down enemies using the incredible power of the Recyl-o-Ray! (patent pending) before turning the Scumbags’ own weapons against them!

The game sees our titular hero blasting into outer space to defeat a race of psychopathic cephalopod invaders intent on wiping Earth from the face of the galaxy: if the galaxy even has a face that is...

Ace must speed across the surface of the earth, before blasting into space, speeding through a deadly asteroid field, taking on a Scumbag Factory Ship and defeating them on their home planet before blasting into the mysterious Dimension X to put an end to the Scumbag menace once and for all! (phew!)

Along his journey he’ll take on the full might of the Scumbag invasion fleet and some huge, hilarious and highly irregular boss characters. Only Ace’s awesome piloting skills and the devastating powers of the Recyl-o-Ray can save humanity from a fate worse than being the slaves of a race of octopuses with see-through heads.

Can Ace save us all from a lifetime of servitude and misery? Is he really mankind’s greatest (and only) hope? And... if the galaxy does have a face, is it the face of our saviour, Ace Armstrong?!

Can’t remember all that? Here are some of AavtAS’ coolest features!

  • Old skool side scrolling shooter.
  • Classic, cheesy sci-fi cartoon art style.
  • Waste the Scumbags using the Recyl-o-Ray and an array of their own weapons.
  • More than a dozen different flavours of Scumbag,  and five huge bosses to defeat.
  • 3 difficulty levels – those Scumbags' just don’t quit!
  • Awesome vintage sci-fi soundtrack.

Sounds cool, right? Stay tuned for more news from Ace and the Scumbags very soon...

Laughing Jackal are heading Stateside

Laughing Jackal now have approval for Vibes, Stellar Attack and Cubixx to go on sale in the U.S. PSN store. We don't have any confirmed release dates yet but hopefully the games should be available to buy in early June. Once we have confirmation of the dates we will post them here.

Too much lager? It's a Stellar Attack!

Laughing Jackal’s second newest Minis title, Stellar Attack, is both a homage to classic shoot-em-up Star Castle, and inspired by a range of action puzzle games, featuring a mix of score-chasing puzzles, fast action and precision targeting.

Deep in space a lost starfighter is trapped by a series of evil turrets; turrets which are generating a purple energy field prevent the starfighter from returning home. To make things more difficult, these evil robo-turrets surround themselves with vast strings of protective coloured orbs.

Using its multicoloured laser, our intrepid starfighter must blast a path through the orbs to destroy the turrets in each level – and if it can achieve a new high score on the way then so much the better. In the future, everyone knows that the only language an evil robotic turret understands is destruction... and a good high score.

Stellar Attack’s ‘racking’ multiplier score system means that you only build good scores by hitting orbs consistently with the right coloured lasers. Breaking your chain of hits resets your multiplier and messes up your score, ruining your starfighter’s day and making evil turrets laugh at you.

If score chasing, orb blasting, turret destroying old-school puzzle action is your idea of fun (who’s isnt?) then Stellar Attack has everything you need.

Some of Stellar Attack’s best features:

  • Old school shooter blended with score-chasing puzzler.
  • Vibrant, colourful presentation and a thumping soundtrack.
  • ‘Racking’ score multiplier offers great replayability.
  • Six different craft to master.
  • ‘Vector’ and ‘Direct’ control schemes to suit all players.
