'Ace Armstrong' SCEE release date finalised - SCEA version soon - more news!
Hi everyone,
Well, I have some good news - we finally have our release date for Ace Armstrong vs. the Alien Scumbags!
Ace and those dastardly Scumbags will be blasting on to the SCEE PSN Store on Wednesday 1st September 2010, and has a ‘7+’ PEGI rating. More news on pricing when I have it.
The game was approved at QA just yesterday, and seems pretty much bullet-proof - unlike the Scumbags. ;-)
When Ace does hit the US PSN Store, it’ll be rated ‘Teen’ by the ESRB. I guess us Europeans are made of sterner stuff! ;-) Once again, more news on pricing once I've been given the details.
We’re working hard to ensure the SCEA release follows as closely on the heels of the SCEE one as we possibly can. The only reason we’re delayed in the first place is that once the game’s finished you can submit in Europe immediately. In America, you have to get your ESRB rating before you’re allowed to submit, and there was fair bit of back and forth over some of the content.
Once you guys get your hands on the game, my personal tip for getting maximum entertainment value is to ONLY play on Elite difficulty. You get fewer lives and baddies take way more damage, which keeps your screen busier and gives you by far the most rewarding challenge.
I’ve been keeping track on my own personal Ace high scores, which I’ll post on the blog come launch day to give you guys something to aim for. I am widely acknowledged as the office ‘Ace-Ninja’, which is a title I prize above all others (not that I have any others!). Seriously, the day I first finished Ace on Elite difficulty was up there with the birth of my son as one of the greatest days of my life (I’ll leave it to you to decide if I really mean that or not!).
Now Ace is pretty much out of the door, I can tell you we’re currently working on 2 new Minis titles, one of which is kind of a response to a recently launched title, the other being a pretty cool product which will bring back memories to many an 70s/80s child - but I am contractually unable to reveal any more details than that until my bosses let me off the leash!
Beyond these two new titles, there are ideas bubbling for at least 3 more minis, plus some ‘bigger and better things’ to be revealed later in the year - once again I can’t say any more than that for fear of being strongly ticked off by my superiors! ;-)
More blog news next week, no doubt. See you then. :-)

Great blog, great humour too. :) I watched the Ace Armstrong trailer and really liked what I saw. It'll be an instant buy day one for me. I'm fairly intrigued about the game "which will bring back memories to many a 70s/80s child". Come on, just spill the beans already, will ya!? :D Anyways, looking forward to reading more great PSP Minis news from you guys. Keep up the good work.
